Tips for Completing BAFTX Application forms

Details Matter!

Ensure that you include as much information about yourself, your achievements, your experiences and your skills as possible. Think when you answer questions. The selection process looks very carefully at extra curricular activities, community service, part time work, extenuating circumstances, as well as GPA and income. Lists of achievements are great, but tell us what your community service involved, what your tasks were, what you achieved in your extra curricular activities, how long you held positions of responsibility. The details really make a difference!

Be accurate

Make sure that your GPA in your form matches the one on your transcript. Equally, your household income on your form should match your FAFSA or TAFSA document. Inaccuracy makes the selection panel question other information you have supplied in your form.

Don’t miss the deadline

Each scholarship has a precise deadline - 12pm on January 31st for International STEM Program and all other scholarships close at 12pm on March 31st. We do not extend this deadline for anyone under any circumstances. The forms will automatically close on the deadline. Our forms are open for at least 4 months and up to 6 months prior to the deadline. Please ensure that the person writing your reference, required for your application, is aware of this deadline too.

Follow up for your reference

We require a reference from a teacher or faculty member for most of our scholarship applications. We have provided guidelines for this reference in the application form, which you may wish to share with your reference provider. Many teachers and faculty members prefer to keep their references confidential and you are able to indicate this on your form and have them email it to info@baftx.org. Do follow up with your reference provider well before the deadline to ensure that they have been able to do this.

Sell yourself!

BAFTX receives several hundred applications every year. If you want to stand out, be outstanding! Sell yourself, help us to understand why our selection panel should award you a scholarship. We are looking for future leaders, students who are invested in their community, who are active in and out of the classroom, students who are striving for more, with ambition and the drive to do well and achieve.
